How much does the hunt cost?
$75 per youth hunter. The registration fee includes a Sprig membership, overnight accommodations, breakfast and lunch. Each party consists of one youth hunter and one non-shooting chaperone or two junior hunters and one non-shooting chaperone. All junior hunters must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older.
Do I need a hunting license?
Yes, all hunters need a valid 2021-2022 California hunting license.
How do I sign up?
Click the register tab to sign up (it will appear when registration is open). You may register/attend only once per person per waterfowl season.
Who is considered a junior hunter?
UPDATE.........................A hunter less than 18 years of age who takes birds or mammals. To qualify, hunter must be less than 18 years of age at the beginning of the license year (July 1).
Who can attend?
Any junior hunter with a valid 2021-2022 California hunting license and adult chaperones/hunters ages 21 years or older.
What is included?
A one-night stay at Rancho Esquon, breakfast, lunch, decoys and blinds.
Can adults shoot?
No, this is a youth hunt. Each group must consist of one junior hunter and one non-shooting adult hunter age 21 years older. Groups of three can consist of two juniors and one non-shooting adult.
Can I bring my hunting dog?
Yes, but all dogs must be kept in a dog crate or vehicle when you are not hunting. You will be responsible for the behavior and actions of your dog, as well as for providing adequate food and water.
Where does everyone sleep?
All participants sleep in a open-roomed bunk house equipped with bunk beds.
How many hunters can hunt in a blind?
Two people per blind in Group 1. Three people per blind in Groups 2 and 3.
How are blinds determined?
A draw will take place the night prior for hunting blinds.
What do I bring?
- Hunting gear: 2021-22 California hunting license, ear and eye protection, 2-4 boxes of non-toxic ammunition, gun, gun case, waders, camouflage jacket, hat, gloves, camera and warm clothes.
- Overnight gear: sleeping bag, pillow, etc. Indoor sleeping facilities are provided for everyone, but showers are not available.
