About CWA's Mallard Legacy Program The Concern Mallards are not only winter visitors
to California but they also stay here year-round to nest and raise
their young. After years of study, CWA’s
top priority for mallards is protection and enhancement
of upland nesting habitat and summer water for rearing broods. CWA's Approach Political action, habitat improvement,
evaluations, and education are all used to accomplish CWA’s
goals for the Mallard Program. To be successful, we need to build
partnerships, motivate landowners, and stimulate funding sources.
Our biologists design and construct habitats and follow up by evaluating
and adjusting management to provide the best possible conditions
for breeding and wintering mallards and the more than 200 other
species of wildlife that use these same habitats.
Over the past 8 years CWA has partnered with CDFG to bring over $1.1 million to Upper Butte Basin Wildlife Area to improve habitat. To read more click here>>
