Record Keeping Help
The example worksheet below shows how one might prepare a management plan with definite goals for each unit...simply fill in the blanks with dates or water level observations as they occur. Using this system for clubs with multiple units requires water control structures to be numbered, and a staff gauge for each unit installed.

Regular, (annual or every two years) aerial photos of each blind and unit should be taken and put into a file with the summaries of hunting results and habitat log books. These photos can be used to correlate any change in hunter success with habitat change or management.

By keeping daily harvest records, we can see which blinds, and by inference, which habitat, is most attractive to birds (and hunters). Do not change anything around the blinds that have the highest percentages of the total take for the year, and work on the middle third in percentages...the lowest third probably are not in good locations, and not much effort should be made to improve them.
