CONSULTING SERVICES

Since 1992, California Waterfowl Association has completed over 500 individual projects to protect, restore, and enhance more than 300,000 acres of wetland, riparian, and upland habitat statewide. CWA specializes in developing cooperative partnerships to maximize project funding while reducing each participating agency or individual’s contribution.

Consulting and Grant Writing Services

CWA has extensive experience in writing and obtaining government and foundation grants for conservation easements and habitat restoration and enhancement projects. All CWA members are entitled to one free site visit and consultation. CWA biologists will assist with and explore project possibilities and suggest future courses of action.

In most cases all you need to know is that water runs down hill, but when working over large areas and with complex irrigation systems, things are not always that simple. CWA uses state-of-the-art GPS/GIS equipment to accurately document existing field conditions. This information is used to produce topographic maps for designing the infrastructure necessary to precisely manage water and habitat.

Design and Engineering

CWA biologists boast a diverse background of experience in hydrology, ecology, botany, geology, fisheries, and wildlife conservation and management. Our staff is capable of delivering high quality wetland, riparian, and upland habitat project designs.

Project Management

With over 500individual projects completed, CWA is known for its expertise in the field. Coordinating complex multi-agency and landowner construction projects can be a daunting task. CWA has proven itself to be a costeffective and efficient alternative to more expensive environmental consulting firms.

Habitat Technical Assistance

Sometimes the “add water and stir” method works; but, in most cases it does not. Managing habitat and water can be tricky. Building an ideal water management infrastructure and planting the right plant species doesn’t necessarily guarantee high quality habitat and wildlife use. At CWA, qualified and experienced biologists are available to ensure the establishment of desirable vegetation and to maximize wildlife use.
