2007-08 WATERFOWL REGULATIONS BY ZONE

REGULATION HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2007/08:
- Effective October 25th, the daily bag limit for canvasbacks has been raised from one to two, with a total of four in possession.
- Goose bag limit increased to 6 birds in Balance of State, Southern San Joaquin Valley, and Northeastern.
- Canvasback bag limit currently set at 1, but may increase to 2 per day upon further review.
- Mallard bag limits allow for 7 birds, 2 of which can be hens.
- Spinning wing decoys will be allowed from December 1 until the season ends (statewide).
2007/08 WATERFOWL REGULATIONS BY ZONE (GUIDELINE ONLY)
BALANCE OF STATE ZONE
Seasons:
Ducks and Geese: 100 Day Straight Season
October 20, 2007 through January 27, 2008
Brant Special Management Area: Northcoast Brant (Humboldt Bay) November 3,
2007 through December 2, 2007. Southcoast Brant (Tomales and Morro Bay),
November 10, 2006 through December 9, 2006 two per day, four possession.
Special Youth Hunt Days: February 2 and 3, 2008
Limits:
Ducks: Daily bag limit: 7. Daily bag limit may contain seven mallards of
which only two can be females; one pintail; two canvasbacks; two redheads;
three scaup. Possession limit is double the daily bag limit.
Geese: Daily bag limit: 6. Daily bag limit may contain six geese of which
only four can be large Canada geese; four white geese; four white fronts,
except in the Sacramento Valley (West) Special Management Area where no more
than two white fronts may be taken. For more information on the boundaries
of the Sacramento Valley (West) Special Management Area limits and
boundaries, please refer to the Fish and Game Waterfowl Regulation Booklet.
Possession limit is double the daily bag limit.
NORTHEASTERN CALIFORNIA ZONE
Seasons:
Ducks: 105 Day Straight Season
October 6, 2007 through January 18, 2008
Geese: 100 Day Straight Season
October 6, 2007 through January 13, 2008
Special Youth Hunt Days: September 22 and 23, 2007
Limits:
Ducks: Daily bag limit: 7. Daily bag limit may contain seven mallards of
which only two can be females; one pintail; two canvasbacks; two redheads;
three scaup. Possession limit is double the daily bag limit.
Geese: Daily bag limit: 6. Daily bag limit may contain six geese of which
only two can be large Canada geese; four white geese; four white fronts.
Possession limit is double the daily bag limit.
SOUTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY ZONE
Seasons:
Ducks: 102 days split Season
October 6, 2007 through October 28, 2007 and November 10, 2007 through
January 27, 2008
Geese: 100 Day Straight Season
October 20, 2007 through January 27, 2008
Special Youth Hunt Days: February 2 and 3, 2008

Ducks: Daily bag limit: 7. Daily bag limit may contain seven mallards of

to three may be dark geese. Possession limit is double the daily bag limit.
COLORADO RIVER ZONE
Seasons:
Ducks and Geese: 101 Day Straight Season
October 19, 2007 through January 27, 2008
Special Youth Hunt Day: February 2 & 3 2008
Limits:
Ducks: Daily bag limit: 7. Daily bag limit may contain seven mallards, but
not more than two female mallards or Mexican-like ducks; one pintail; two
canvasbacks; two redheads; three scaup. Possession limit is double the
daily bag limit.
Geese: Daily bag limit: 6. Daily bag limits may contain up to four white
geese and up to three may be dark geese. Possession limit is double the
daily bag limit.
