HUNTER SKILLS CLINICS
For All Ages
Join CWA and our talented gang of volunteers to learn more about
the waterfowling
experience. Whether you are an absolute beginner, have a few hunts
under your belt, or
are returning to the field after a few (or many!) years’ absence
and need a brush-up, these
clinics are for you. Even the old hands claim to learn something
new, as our clinics
provide a place to share ideas and pass on information, as well
as giving the basic
training needed to get out and get going for the waterfowl hunting
season.
Currently we offer two types of
clinics:
Hunter Skills Clinics are designed as the next step toward getting
ready after a
hunter safety course, also known as “all the other stuff you
need to know.” Topics
include Equipment (shotguns, shells, gear, and garb), Site Set-up,
Bird Identification and Behavior, Calling ‘em In, Hunting
Habitats and Access, Dogs, Staying Legal in the
Field, and After the Hunt – Game Care and Cooking.*
Calling Intensive Clinics focus on calling skills for various species
– both ducks
and geese. This involves small group sessions with time allotted
for individual coaching.
Typical species include hen mallard, teal, pintail, wigeon, snow
goose, white-fronted
goose, and Canada goose. Bird identification on the water and on
the wing is included.
Care and maintenance of calls is also covered.
Schedule:
Hunter Skills Clinics are scheduled for the fall – in late
August or early September.
Calling Intensive Clinics will be scheduled for September (pre-season)
and February (post-season).
