This one-of-its-kind camp experience incorporated hunter education and topo maps (taught here by Gene Bach).
Archery and muzzleloader instruction was taught by volunteer Joe Becker and included archery range time.
Pellet gun range was run by Jeff Cook (shown here) and Carl Miller.
Shotgun range run by Gene Bach and Gabe Garbarino (seated on the trap thrower).
Great emphasis is placed on gun-handling and gun-safety prior to campers hitting the range.
Gary and Bonnie Bethel of Bird Dog Bunkhouse shared some dog retrieving concepts including PUPPIES.
Campers also learned about carving their very own decoys.
Dave Ebright of Chico Sportsmans Den and Merle Leighty giving Samantha her first hunting license.
Trust us, you'll grow into these .
The highlight of the camp was the very first waterfowl hunt. The campers and there parents were up early to gear up for the day.
If you look closely you can see Patrick Neu (second camper from the left) holding his first duck, a banded drake mallard. Go Patrick!
Great volunteers, great locations and great kids make the CWA Youth camp programs a unique, educational and fun experience for all ages, abilities and interests.
Many thanks to our hosts from Llano Seco Ranch; Richard Theirriot and Merle Leighty.
