In early September, CWA had its second annual camp at Black Point Sports Club in Novato, California. |
There were four shooting stations (two shotgunning, one rifle, and one archery) that all campers got hands-on shooting instruction. |
| A camper tries firing a .22 caliber rifle from the prone position. |
Volunteer, Larry Marvier ran one of the two shotgun stations. Keeping everyone safe and teaching fundamental techniques. |
| Garret, from the National Wild Turkey Federation, ran the archery station, which was a new experience for many of the campers. |
Learning about the many gear and garb for waterfowling (whether it fits or not) is great fun at the Weekend Waterfowl camps. |
| National Wild Turkey Federation volunteers brought box turkey call kits for all the campers and taught them about turkey calling and turkey hunting. |
Volunteers Steve and Mark Marvier taught the campers about big game hunting as well as distance judging, and backcountry hunting gear. |
| CWA board member, Yancey Forest-Knowles talked at the camp 'graduation' ceremony and discussed the importance of hunting, not only in terms of game management, but as a part of the hunting heritage. |
The great facilities at Black Point Sports Club, along with great volunteers and great campers all combined for another sucessful camp.
Many thanks to Mike Sutsos at Black Point and all of his staff. |
