2007 CONSTRUCTION SEASON SUMMARY

Another year has come to an end for the Wetland Department staff at CWA. The 2007 construction season was a very productive one for us. CWA broke ground on our first habitat project in southern California!! CWA, in partnership with Department of Fish and Game and the Wildlife Conservation Board restored 320 acres and enhanced an additional 175 acres of wetlands at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area near Mystic Lake in Riverside County as the first step in a multiple year southern California initiative.

Our efforts throughout the rest of the state continued as normal. CWA and its partners spent $3.5 million on restoration and enhancement projects on over 16,000 acres of wetlands throughout the state on both public and private lands. Habitat projects on public lands were completed on Ash Creek WA, Delevan NWR, Sutter NWR, Yolo Bypass WA, Grizzly Island WA, Joice Island WA, San Jacinto WA, Howard Slough WA, Little Dry Creek WA, Los Banos WA, North Grasslands WA and Mendota WA. The vast majority of these projects were in areas open to public access including hunting. Overall, $2 million were spent on habitat projects on public land benefiting almost 8,000 acres.
