****ADOPT A REFUGE FOR JUNIORS****
CWA members Rich and Kim Ambrosino and their boys Shane, Vince, and Angelo have “adopted” Delevan NWR for the special mid-season junior hunt in December – handing out literature, setting up educational displays, and providing a warm meal for the juniors as they come in from the field. Michael, Bethanie, Brandt, and Anna McGahan have “adopted” Delevan NWR as their event site for the special post-season junior hunt event.
Other public areas are available for adoption for the up-coming season, including Gray Lodge WA, Sacramento NWR, Kern WA, Grizzly Island WA, and others.
Other events are also available, including festivals, sportsmen’s expos, and school field trips.
To adopt an event, or even just to volunteer for a few hours, call George Oberstadt at CWA at (916) 648-1406, or email cwaeducation@calwaterfowl.org.
****CWA WEEKEND WATERFOWL HUNTER CAMP – FEB 2-4****
CWA is organizing a Weekend Waterfowl Hunter Camp to introduce juniors to the sport and traditions of waterfowl hunting. The event is sponsored in part by Llano Seco Duck Club, The NRA Foundation, Cabela’s and Step Outside. The camp will be held on Friday, Feb 2nd through Sunday, Feb 4th at Llano Seco Ranch near Chico.
The Weekend Waterfowl Camp will allow beginning hunters a safe, low-pressure opportunity to earn their hunters certification while learning outdoor skills and having a great time. Activities include: hunter certification, shooting skills, duck identification, duck calling, guns, gear and garb for the field, and lots more.
Cost is $200 per person which includes all meals, overnight lodging, materials, CWA membership plus lots of goodies. All campers who pass the hunter safety test during camp will get their hunting license and get a once in a lifetime waterfowl hunt on the beautiful Llano Seco Duck club. All interested youth’s ages 11-15 that don’t have their hunter’s safety certificate are encouraged to attend. Registration is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
To register or get more information please contact CWA at (916) 648-1406, email cwa_education@calwaterfowl.org or log on to www.calwaterfowl.org.
****YOUTH WATERFOWL HUNT WEEKEND – FEB 3-4****
CWA will be publishing on our website a list of duck clubs that have openings for the youth waterfowl weekend on February 3 and 4, 2007. Any duck clubs that are willing to host youth during that weekend please contact George Oberstadt at (916) 648-1406 or email george_oberstadt@calwaterfowl.org.
Interested youths should monitor the list on our website as we will be adding new duck clubs as they come in.
