Waterfowl Programs

Waterfowl Banding

Our biologists conduct annual waterfowl evaluations to determine the factors that limit waterfowl production and survival. Activities such as banding, nest searching, breeding pair and brood surveys, and other data collection methods help monitor and assess waterfowl populations, habitat conditions, and harvest rates.

Waterfowl programs provide an entry point for aspiring wildlife management students to gain valuable field experience as they start their careers.  Duck banding puts live birds in the hands of people young and old, helping to educate them about the importance of conservation and the important role that hunters play in maintaining healthy and sustainable waterfowl populations.
