CWA’s Board of Directors includes 15 members plus one past Chairman appointee. Terms for the volunteer board positions are 3 years.
The Board is responsible for ensuring that CWA operations are aligned with the Strategic Plan, approving and providing oversight of major policies, reviewing and approving the budget, and assessing and approving strategies in response to environmental changes.
CWA’s core strength has always been its volunteer base. CWA Board members are also volunteers; however, they perform a governance role to guide CWA’s business toward growth while maintaining the highest standard of integrity.
The life of a Board member is a busy one. Board members are expected to attend all Board meetings and related events. In addition, they should attend as many CWA functions such as fundraising dinners, field days, and district meetings as possible.
To grow qualified Board members who are ready to make the commitment to CWA, several steps toward leadership have been established. The overarching objectives are (1) to recognize the value all volunteers dedicate to CWA and (2) to align Board candidate capabilities with the Board requirements to serve CWA’s members well.
